New Vibes at Winter Festival
Warwick is warming up for Queensland’s quirkiest winter festival, Jumpers and Jazz, from 18th – 28th of July. Along with the annual kaleidoscope of yarn bombing, live jazz, amazing happenings in the street, café’s and restaurants, and in the park both weekends, organisers are excited to announce two brand new events.
This year, the Festival will launch off with the “Jumpin’ Jazz Laneway Party” – from 6pm on Friday July 19th. Featuring live jazz and dancing with ever popular Dezzie D and the Stingrayz in the beautiful vintage-deco Town Hall, attendees can warm up with a selection of hot food and drinks from the funky decorated laneway throughout the night.
Exceptional support artists, the Kalamunda Youth Swing Band from Western Australia, will get everyone in the party mood, both inside and out. Tickets are just $50 with meal and drink vouchers included and are now available on-line at warwicktickets.com.au. Watch these two great bands here:
After enjoying the day at Stroll and Swing on Palmerin Saturday July 27th – jazz lovers can stroll down to Youth Stage Leslie Park for “Twilight Jazz in the Park”, where from 4pm they will be welcomed into a winter vista of lights, colour and of course, top live jazz performance.
Look forward to a diverse selection of dynamic jazz styles, including the big sound of Revelation Big Band, Will Sargisson Trio Wil Sargisson, jazz pianist, and lively Vocalist and composer Merinda Dias-Jayasinha.
The grand finale features Robyn Brown Quintet performing her “Down by the Riverside Showcase Spectacular” with hits from outstanding original “Hall of Fame” rock gospel singer Rosetta Tharpe. Catch a glimpse of the Rosetta Tharpe story here , and read more about this performance in our last blog post. There’ll be plenty of opportunity to chill out and warm up with hot local produce food, Granite Belt wines, coffee and sweets on offer throughout the evening until 9pm. While heating will be available, Patrons are encouraged to don their quirkiest coats, beanies and scarves to fully enjoy the vibe of this “winter’s night out” jazz and dance spectacular!” Tickets $20 at event, and online www.warwicktickets.com.au.
